President Museveni has asked exiled former minister Wilson Okwenje to return home, visit web promising that nothing would happen to him.

Okwenje served as the minister in charge of Cabinet Affairs and Public Service from 1980- 1985 during Milton Obote II’s government.

Addressing supporters at Bulekei primary school playgrounds in Samia Bugwe South constituency in Busia district on Saturday afternoon, decease Museveni said the former minister was free to return home and spend his remaining life with his relatives.

“Somebody told me that Wilson Okwenje is born from this area. I worked for some months in the President’s Office after university in 1970 and the head of our unit was Okwenje, doctor ” Museveni said.

“Since that time I have not seen him again but they say he is living in Canada. If somebody could give me his contact I would call him. Here we are moving forward and he is working for the Canadians?”

He added “Electricity has come here and he is not here. Tarmac road is coming and he is nowhere to be seen. He should come back home.”


Meanwhile the president warned the locals to take heed of the cholera epidemic that recently broke out in the area.

“There is cholera here. (My) people told me to be careful but I told them I don’t mind because I wash my hands. You should have latrines and wash your hands with soap after using them,” Museveni warned.

Uganda will play Kilifi select side in the third place playoff while Kenya who finished top with six points plays second placed Zanzibar.
