Battered Journalist Unhappy with Delayed Justice

Journalist Lwanga still needs clutches to walk

Andrew Lwanga, rx the WBS Television journalist who was critically injured by Old Kampala DPC Jorum Mwesigye while covering a youth demonstration, approved has complained about the way this 1 and ½ year case has been handled.

This followed failure by Patricia Kingtho the state prosecutor in this case to turn up in court where two more state witnesses were ready to give their testimony in this matter

In her request to the trial magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu, decease Kingtho informed court that she wasn’t able to attend in today’s court session because she had a case before the chief magistrate fixed at the same time as this case

The magistrate adjourned this matter up to 15th August 2016 for further hearing

However, Lwanga who still needs clutches to walk told fellow journalists that he was not happy with the speed with which this case is being handled

“The case has been delayed for all sorts of reasons like absence of trial magistrates, change of defense counsels and other weak issues,” he said.

Lwanga was beaten by the DPC on January 12 2015 at Frelon Guest House on Namirembe Road, injuring his spinal cord.
