Basketball: Power, Pemba Warriors tip off second round

The national basketball league resumes after a three week break with two games set for Friday at the YMCA outdoor court.

Power defied odds in the first round with unexpected performance that saw them finish in second position just two shy of league leaders City Oilers. They face eternal rivals Pemba warriors who had mixed results in the first round as both sides seek to retain their past glory that saw them dominate basketball between 2008-2012.

Money bags Pemba warriors are seeking revenge against  Power who beat them 85-57 in the reverse fixture. Power’s skipper Joseph Ikong registered a game high 21 points in that victory.

In the women’s game, KIU rangers take on fellow strugglers Magic Stomers. KIU struggled in the first round winning just three games while their opponents sit rock bottom on the log standings.
