President Paul Kagame has warned that traitors in the Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) will be dealt with in accordance with the law, pilule http://danielborda.net/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/sync/class.jetpack-sync-module-full-sync.php Chimp Corps report.
Several Rwandan army officers have fled the country, with some conspiring to overthrow the government of President Kagame.
They include the late Col Patrick Karegeya, Gen Faustin Kayumba Nyamwasa among others.
Speaking Friday at the commissioning of 528 RDF cadets at the Rwanda Military Academy, Gako in Bugesera District, Kagame said the soldiers must give their all to defend the nation from enemies.
“The army we are building has to be able to fight any battle that is necessary and fight for peace when necessary,” said Kagame in his commissioning speech upon congratulating the cadets.
“I remind you to uphold the country’s dignity because its value is priceless. The dignity of a country is hard earned, it must be worked for. The dignity of a nation is never given, it is fought for,” he added.
At the event that marked the fifth cadet course held at the Academy, President Kagame warned against betrayal of the nation, because that would be going against the oath taken by the officers.
“Those who betray their country and hide behind those willing to violate their own laws will one day have to face justice. The arm of the law, as they say, is long,” warned the President who led the RPF guerillas in a four-year war that toppled the genocidal regime in 1994.
President Kagame thanked the leadership of the Rwanda Military Academy Gako for a job well done, and wished the new officers well in their various new responsibilities.
The function was attended by senior Rwanda army officers and Uganda’s Ambassador to Rwanda Richard Kabonero.
