AUPL: Vipers, Villa Stumble Again

Chances of Vipers SC defending their league crown slumped further on Friday after failing to score a single goal past a resilient army side Simba FC at home in Buikwe.

With four points adrift of leaders KCCA FC, ed Coach George ‘Best’ Nsiimbe’s hopes of lifting his fourth premier league title can only mature if Vipers beat URA FC and The Saints FC in their remaining games and KCCA don’t pick a win in their two games.

Missed chances.

Mike Mutyaba nearly gifted the hosts the lead in the 23rd minute with a well hit freekick from the edge of the box but was unfortunate to hit the cross bar.

The creative midfielder tried another shot two minutes later from a 40 yard stunner only to rattle the bar again.

Moses Okello caused a scare in the Vipers bench late in the first half when he fired a freekick over the wall only to be parried away by Watenga. Earlier on, visit this Sentamu Siraje had been booked for a last man tackle on Aloro.

Saddam had his share of the blame for not converting two open chances, blasting wide.

In the other game played Soana came from behind to level 3-3 at Nakivubo. Martin Kizza grabbed a brace for the Jogoos while Dan Wagaluka, Musa Esenu and Allan Kayiwa scored for the visitors.

The draw mathematically puts SC Villa out of the title since they can only hit 33 points in case they perfect their remaining five games.
