Uganda Premier League
Vipers 1-0 URA FC
Vipers extended their winning run to three straight victories with a narrow victory against Uganda Revenue Authority football club.
On form striker Tony Odur scored the lone goal of the game to condemn URA FC to their first loss in seven games and the first defeat under coach Ibrahim Kirya.
Vipers dominated proceedings right from the start and created several chances but it was only Odur that got onto the score sheet in the second half.
Pius Wangi got the first chance of the game in the 6th minute but failed to head home Dan Bilikwalira’s cross.
Seven minutes later, dosage midfielder Moses Waiswa also had a chance to score but was denied by goalkeeper Nafian Alionzi.
Odur fluffed a chance at the quarter hour mark after breaking through URA FC defense.
The visitor’s best chance came in the 38th minute but Shafik Kagimu failed to but the ball into the back of the net.
Hamis Kiiza laid up Kagimu on the far end faced with just the goal but his tap off the left foot went off target.
Odur put Vipers ahead a minute to the half hour mark with a curling effort past onrushing goalkeeper Nafian Alionzi.
The sharp striker held his breath after receiving a well laid pass from youngster Frank Tumwesigye to curl the ball beyond the fully stretched goalkeeper.
Vipers held on to keep the score intact and earn all three points to move to 44 points in 3rd position while URA remain 5th on 39 points.
