AUPL: Saints Survive Relegation

The Saints Football club will now have a sigh of relief after confirming their stay in the Uganda premier league after squeezing a hard 1-0 win in their tight clash against Maroons FC.

In the 80th minute, he picked a loose ball and charged to Maroons third before lofting in a cross which captain Maxwell Okello was judged to have handled inside the box prompting the referee to point to the spot.

“Given their purpose for the game and ours, we definitely knew they would somehow be favoured. We will now just focus on the next game against Bul FC and see that we finish the competition with at least 20 points or more,” Maroons FC captain Okello was quoted by club media.

The win sends Saints to 36 points, eleven away from army side Simba FC who occupy the last relegation spot.

Simba have to win all their remaining three games and pray Lweza pick no win if they’re to survive the chop.

Saints next action comes on 14th against Simba away and later Vipers a week later.
