Express FC 0-0 Kirinya Junja
Like most of the results on Tuesday, Express FC and Kirinya Jinja SS played out to a goalless draw in a crunch tie played at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.
A new look Express FC started the game brightly but they could not get an opener as Michael Birungi missed a clear cut chance following Bengo’s assist early in the game
Kirinya Jinja SS striker, Muwawu had a header cleared off the line by Promise Mokpene as the first 45 minutes ended goalless.
In the second half, it is the visitors who started brightly; with Godwin Buule coming off his line to punch out Ibrahim Kayiwa’s long range shot.
Kirinya continued to attack in huge numbers; throwing more bodies upfront but the Jinja based side was denied chances on various occasions.
In a fully attended match whose entrance was free of charge, both sides decided to settle for a draw.
Kirinya Jinja denied penalties
Express FC Defender Promise Mokpene handled the ball in the area and Musa Esenu was pushed inside the 18 yard box, but Referee Ali Kaddu did not point at the spot as Kirinya Jinja’s coaching staff fumed.
Express FC new signings fail to impress
Express FC made around 20 new signings in the preseason.
Only Steven Luswata and Juma Ssebaduka made it to the starting XI as Rashid Nsubuga, Muhamed Ochaya and Remmy Makumbi started on the bench.
Only Promise and Goalkeeper Buule lived to the expectations: The latter had a busy day in the posts, and he managed to keep out Kirinya from scoring with several reflexes.
Bengo had a good start in the game but phased out later before he was brought off for Ssekayombya.
Mzee Dan, Birungi and the rest of the pack were average.
Express FC Coach Sam Kawalya: “Our preparations have not been good compared to the rest of other teams, and that was a big reason as to why we didn’t turn up in the second half. We hope to improve in the following matches.”
Kirinya Jinja SS Coach Charles Ayiekoh: “It is a point earned; Express FC is a big team. I don’t want to talk about what happened on the pitch because we all saw what the referee did.”

Express FC’s next league game is a long trip to the west to face off with Mbarara City FC at Kakyeka Stadium on Saturday.
