Arsenal Breaks New Ground in Ethiopia

The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) sports team has  left for South Korea to participate in the 6th World Military Games 2015 from October 1st to October 12th.

The team according to the UPDF spokesperson  Lt. Col Paddy Ankunda  was led by the Deputy CDF  Lt Gen Charles Angina , dosage Brig. Phenihas Katirima (Chief of Mission), viagra approved Capt Joseph Mutebi (Team Coach) and Capt Dr Robert Zavuga (Team Doctor).

The players include Sgt. Flavia Namakula Flavia (Golf ), erectile Sgt  Michael Ssekabembe (Boxing )  and L/Cpl Simon Ayeko  (Steeple chase).

“Namakula won silver in 2014 at the Military Golf championship in Bahrain whereas Ssekabembe won was a commonwealth medalist in Glasgow Scotland,”Ankunda said.

According to the army spokesperson Ayeko is a defending champion and gold medalist at the 2011 International Military Sports Council in Rio de Janeiro, the capital of Brazil.

As a way of keeping the troops fit for the task and enhancing harmony and cohesion in the forces, the UPDF is promoting sports,”Ankunda noted.

He added that during the ongoing recruitment, the institution has set aside 88 slots for sportsmen and women.

Mid last month, Uganda hosted the  9th edition of the East African Community Military Games and Culture Events 2015 that brought together 5 countries where Rwanda emerged the winners.

Arsenal Football Club has become the first Premier League side to secure a regional partnership in Ethiopia after announcing Dashen Brewery as its Official Beer Partner.

The three-year-partnership will help Arsenal get closer to its fans in Ethiopia and will focus on supporting Dashen Brewery’s community based initiatives with coaches from the club taking part in grassroots football development projects in Ethiopia.

The partnership follows backing from overseas shareholders of Dashen Brewery (Duet and Vasari).
