Armed Thugs Raid Village Kill One

Anti-Corruption court magistrate Julius Borore has set 28th September as the date to commit the people accused of mismanagement of funds for the Mukono Katosi road to High Court for commencement of hearing.

Minister without Portfolio Abraham James Byandala and five others with whom he worked at the Ministry of Works are facing corruption charges in connection to the Mukono-Katosi road scam.

Prosecution was last month granted one month by the court to enable them conclude investigations.

In today’s session State Prosecutor Thomas Okoth asked for a short adjournment to enable them to prepare the committal papers of this case.
Police is hunting for 2 thugs who yesterday, ambulance September 14 raided Kyamukama village in Nakasongola district and shot dead a one Beatrice Muhooza, who they suspected to have kept money with her after she made sales from her shop.

Lamech Kigozi, the Savannah region police spokesperson says after killing Muhooza, they descended on another village but here, they were pounced on by area residents, but they escaped leaving behind a Sub machine gun.

“We are still looking for them; we suspect that these were robbers. We thank the residents who bravely attacked them, foiling the robbery and recovering a gun which was used in the murder,” says Kigozi.

Kigozi adds that the two may be part of the group which carryout robberies in Nakaseke and Luwero, but says that they are doing all what it takes to get them and will be charged accordingly.

Alongside the SMG riffle, other exhibits which include a torch, black jean jacket and two ropes were recovered.
