Dozens of medical workers at Mbarara Referral Hospital attacked and surrounded the vehicle of Mbarara University Vice Chancellor Celestine Obua protesting nonpayment of their arrears.
The VC was leaving the hospital after a soft loan announcement event for construction of a cancer institute.
The protesting medics previously worked with the hospital when it was still under the university management, viagra approved before it was taken over by the Ministry of Health in 2005.
These left with unpaid arrears totaling Shs 604million which has never been cleared.
Screaming loudly and branding placards, view the medical workers surrounded the VC’s Land Cruiser demanding for their money.
The VC however, visit web managed to steer through the protesters and sped off, prompting the medics to march to the streets of Mbarara.
The medics accuse the University of making them sign for the money in question early this year without effecting payments. The workers say that the money was released to the University but never reached them.
The affected medics total 229.
The Mbarara University Vice chancellor Celestine Obua told Chimpreports earlier that striking and protesting was the wrong approach, urging he medics to be patient as their concerns are addressed.
The Mbarara regional referral hospital Director Celestine Barigye says recently a letter was sent to the ministry of health permanent secretary and is sure that the money is on the way.
