ChimpReports has learned that during a meeting with the Members of Parliament from Lango sub-region on Thursday, http://cmlsociety.org/wp-content/plugins/sitepress-multilingual-cms/menu/theme-localization.php the minister resolved to be in Lira herself to listen to the grievances of traders that have been building and boiling for months.
When contacted on phone, Amelia confirmed the development to our reporter. Solutions to the challenges facing business men and women in Lira should be sought tomorrow.
“I had a meeting with the MPs from Lango today headed by Jimmy Akena of Lira municipality. We agreed that I should get on the ground tomorrow and listen to the traders myself,” Amelia said on phone.
The MPs from the region held a meeting on Wednesday and resolved that the planned strike should be called off to give chance to the leaders in Kampala make high level engagements with the concerned government leaders.
The local traders are against the giants like Mukwano and Indian community who they claim sell to them goods in wholesale for retail, but the moment the traders return to their small markets, they find the same manufacturers also retailing or vending at much lower and unfair price.
ChimpReports understands that of part of demonstration tomorrow is stopping all buses coming to or from Kampala, stopping all vehicles carrying goods, closing of all shops in Lira town among others.
