Makindye Grade one magistrate George Watyekere has granted a court bond to Ndeeba Business tycoon Godfrey Muhirwa accused of shooting to death three people.

Muhiirwa, there procescuion says, unlawfully used his pistol to shoot dead three people presumed to be robbers.

The bond was requested by the defense counsel Ritah Kasijja, who informed court that the mandatory period in which the state has to finalized investigations in all capital offences had elapsed.

State prosecutor Beatrice Adong had earlier informed court that investigations are still incomplete.

“Continued detention of the accused after six months have elapsed will be an infringement of his constitutional right as enshrined in chapter four of the constitution of the republic of Uganda,” Remarked Kasijja

Muhirwa presented two sureties Jimmy Kinene and Mugerwa William who have been ordered to pay a non cash bond of ten million shillings each.  The case was adjourned to 8th June for further mention.

The volleyball Cranes will sum up their CAVB zone V men All Africa games qualifiers with a fixture against minnows Burundi at the Amahoro Stade Petite.

The Cranes will only play the match for formality after succumbing to a second straight loss to Kenya on Sunday evening.

Kenya showed early intent as the team utilized their attack and exploited the Cranes’ weaknesses; winning the first set by 25-22 followed by 25-20 and 25-18 in the second and third sets respectively.

“Uganda were tougher than Burundi. They put us under a lot of pressure but because of experience we came out to top, malady ” Kenyan coach Omondi told one of their local media.

Kenya will now square it out with Rwanda for the lone ticket to the continental showpiece in Congo Brazaville later in September.

Both teams have won two games against Uganda and Burundi tied at six points each.  But will renew a four year old rivalry after Rwanda eliminated them in the same qualifier at the same stadium four years ago.

Uganda and Burundi will look for their only win of the tourney at 5Pm before Kenya and Rwanda close the three-day event.
