If there is any game that has taken quicker steps to growth in Uganda, it has got to be woodball.
From a leisure game by around 2008 to a competitive game, woodball has taken great strides.
And ahead of the highly anticipated annual Uganda international open woodball championship, all is set to have the tournament get underway.
Uganda Woodball Association President, Paul Mark Kayongo while addressing the media on Tuesday stated that they are ready to host the tournament.
“We are quite prepared to host the tournament. The number of countries that have confirmed participation is encouraging and we believe the tournament will be a success,” he said.
“I believe the competition keeps growing every other year and it will not be any different this time round,” Kayongo added.
Running for its 5th edition, the Uganda international woodball open will run between 29th June to 2nd July at Kisubi beach off the shores of Lake Victoria.
16 teams have already conformed participation including debutants Malaysia who have already named their 4-man squad.
This includes Elaine Tan who is the President Malaysia Woodball Association, Teoh Swe Khim, Thomas Kok, Frankie Yew.
The other counties include, Chinese Taipei,Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand, China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Comoros, Rwanda, Burundi, DR Congo,Nigeria.
