Al Shendi Move Will Open Europe Deals, Says Ssekaza

Ivan Ssekaza stayed in the Aspire academy in Spain and Qatar for six years from 2008 to 2014

Former Express FC midfielder Ivan Ssekaza is positive that his move to Sudanese top side Al Shendi will guide him towards his dream of joining professional ranks in Europe.

Ssekaza signed with the Heron Ricardo Ferreira Coached side in a one year deal.

“It was the best option for my growth as a player and I am ready to learn even more.”

“My target is to break into the first team and have regular football. I want this to be my stepping stone as I eye a move to return and play professional football in Europe and also catch the attention of the national team coach.”

Sekazza started his football career at Kawempe before he was selected among the continent’s 18 best upcoming talents through the Asprire academy programmes in 2008.

He spent about six years in the academy in Qatar until 2014 where he returned and joined Express FC on a six month short contract. From their he moved to the Kenya premier league with Western Stima FC for a season which just elapsed before crossing over to Sudan.

“The experience I gained in Aspire academy and the clubs I have played for in Uganda and Kenya will help me settle quickly at the club. I am looking to make an immediate impact at Shendi,” He further added.
