Gen Katumba Wamala has Monday visited Mityana Municipality Member of Parliament, Francis Zaake, who is undergoing treatment at Lubaga hospital.

Zaake sustained life-threatening injuries last week during an unprecedented fracas at parliament, where several other opposition legislators were harmed and arrested .

Zaake, in statement published on Saturday accused Gen Katumba of “almost ending his life story” by unleashing on him a “hard-hitting” blow, that rendered him unconscious.

But Gen. Katumba, who is also state minister for works, while appearing on NTV Sunday evening denied the accusations, asking anyone with proof pinning him to produce it.

“It’s true I grabbed Zaake when he threw a chair but I never boxed him. I only threatened him,” Katumba said.

“Let anyone produce the video showing exactly my blows landing on Zaake.”

It should, however be recalled that in a Twitter post, Gen. Katumba had explained what motivated him to act against Zaake.

“Because he was ‘serving ice cream’ in form of chairs and destroying Parliament property in the process,’” said Katumba in a tweet over the weekend, which was followed by mixed reactions from Ugandans on the social media platform.

Zaake, in his statement, said he had “forgiven” Katumba, adding, “It is only God who begins one’s story and therefore only him can end it when he deems it fit.”
