The country’s main Opposition Party Forum For Democratic Change in Teso Sub region are slated to hold what some insider sources have termed as a mega demonstration in the Eastern district of Soroti against the NRM’s planned removal of the Presidential age limit.

A team of party officials we understand, has planned this to be “the biggest ever demonstration in history of Teso Sub region.”

By Tuesday, we were told, the planning was still in high gear, even though no official statement has been sent out on the date the demonstration will take place.

The key organizers according to our source are top FDC leaders in the district together with party loyalists.

Yesterday Monday, a high profile security meeting was held in the Soroti District RDC office with the matters discussed still being kept secret.

Later, the East Kyoga Police Spokesman Michael Odongo confirmed that, Police had received information on the planned demonstration.

Speaking on phone this morning, Odongo told our corps, “We have information that the opposition in Soroti are going to hold the demonstration against the age limit bill but we are not going to allow them if Inspector General of Police has not cleared them”.

He added, “Those people know what to follow when it comes to conducting peaceful demonstrations. If they have not written officially asking for permission, then it’s impossible”.
