Afcon U20: Fufa Provide ‘Defence’ for Rwanda-U20 Fraud Case

Local football governing body, information pills Fufa has presented all the necessary documents required by Confederation of African Football (CAF) in the case lodged by Rwanda FA questioning the real age of Uganda Hippos quartet of Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye, site James Aheebwa, Halid Lwalirwa and Martin Kizza.

Part of the statement from Fufa reads, “The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) would like to clarify on the matter that was brought to our attention by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) after Rwanda FA lodged a protest on the variation of birth dates of four players in the U-20 team.”

“FUFA has since responded to CAF’s request by providing a set of documents for the quartet,” the statement read further.

The Hippos eliminated Rwanda Junior Wasps on a 3-2 aggregate after playing to one all draw in Kigali on the 2nd of April and 2-1 win in Kampala.

The case will be decided by the CAF Appeals Committee tribunal who will give their final verdict over the matter.

Should Uganda lose the case, the Junior Wasps will proceed to the second round of the 2017 Zambia AFCON U20 Qualifiers to face Egypt in the second round. The country could also face a ban from competing in the next two editions of the Under-20 tournament.
