Afcon 2017: Cranes 40-Man Provisional Squad Released

Forty players have made the cut to the final Uganda Cranes squad preparing for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

The finals kick off on Saturday, illness http://coastalallergycare.com/wp-admin/includes/bookmark.php January 14th to Sunday, http://crewchiefpro.com/wp-includes/plugin.php February 5th 2017. Uganda is group D, same pool with Ghana, Egypt and Mali.

Squad.
The squad comprises five goalkeepers, twelve defenders, fifteen midfielders and eight strikers. KCCA FC’s Benjamin Ochan and Ismael Watenga are the two local based goalies in the squad.

Onduparaka striker Shaban Mohammed has been drafted alongside captain Geoffrey Massa,

2015/16 Big league top scorer Edrisa Lubega, KCCA FC attacking duo Derrick Nsibambi and Geoffrey Sserunkuma.

League leaders KCCA FC have contributed seven players in the squad, the highest from a single club.

“We selected blend of experienced players and youngsters that are the future of Ugandan football,” Cranes coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic said. “Nobody is gifted a place and as from now on the counter is on zero and all 40 players are in healthy competition to earn and deserve places in the 23 man squad.”

Östersunds FK (Sweden) defender Ronald Mukiibi, US-based Mike Azira and Tusker FC left back Shadiq Batambuze are among the foreign legion.

Goal Keepers: Dennis Onyango, Robert Odonkara, Salim Jamal, Isma Watenga, Benjamin Ochan.

Defenders: Dennis Iguma, Joseph Nsubuga, Nicholas Wadada, Joseph Ochaya, Shafiq Batambuze, Isaac Isinde, Juuko Murshid, Ronald Mukiibi, Timothy Awany, Richard Kasagga, Halid Lwaliwa, Rashid Toga.
