Police publicist Judith Nabakooba on Friday night said government expects very high profile guests who will attend the meeting “and from tomorrow we expect very high profile delegates to begin arriving in the country.”

She added: “In view of the high terrorist threats that Uganda faces and the number of delegates that will be arriving, the police together with sister security agencies have heightened patrols and visibility on Entebbe Highway to ensure security and safety.”

Nabakooba said in addition, in view of the high traffic on the Entebbe highway, “we encourage and appeal to the public to minimize travel to the most essential so as to reduce traffic congestion along the highway.”

The statement comes at a time of heightened tensions that controversial coordinator of intelligence organs, Gen David Sejusa (Tinyefuza) is returning to Kampala on Saturday.

While there are reports that Sejusa has postponed his homecoming in fear of arrest after alleging that army officers who are opposed to Brig Keinerugaba Muhoozi’s rise to Presidency were targeted for assassination, the army says it expects him to arrive on Saturday.

“We also appeal to the public to cooperate, in view of the inconveniences they may suffer due to traffic activities along the highway,” added Nabakooba.

“Anybody who may have intentions of disrupting the smooth flow of traffic is warned to desist from doing so.”
