During the search and rescue operation exercise that was concluded on Monday April 1st 2013,Tanzania Red Cross Society (TRCS) was collaborating with the government security forces and other agencies to ensure that the work was done as faster as possible despite the challenges ahead.
Over 50 volunteers, staff and members of TRCS were deployed humanitarian services effective the fateful day until when the exercise was closed.
The services provided by besides search, rescue and recovery roles, TRCS provided ambulance services carrying of the causalities and putting them in different ambulances on standby, identification of the causalities and linking them with relatives, provision of first aid and psycho-social support among others.
TRCS president, Dr George Nangale was among the NS leaders that visited volunteers on the scene from time to time.
