M23 Rebels To Celebrate 1st Anniversary

“After 365 days of ups and downs, the M23 has decided to devote the day of May 6, 2013 to celebrate our achievements,” said Kabasha.


The group will blow its first candle in Rutshuru at 10:00am.


The occasion will see M23 top shots inspire rebel to fight to “restore the dignity of Congo and the Congolese.”


M23, formerly CNDP, quit the FARDC ranks in 2012, accusing President Joseph Kabila’s government of discrimination, corruption, rigging the presidential elections and failure to set up development projects in the war-torn eastern part of the country.


The new development comes at a time when the United Nations in deploying an “Intervention Brigade” to fight the rebels.
