Museveni Selects 28 New Judges For Approval

Those named to occupy the Court of Appeal include Professor Lilian Tibatemwa, Vice-Chancellor in charge of Academic Affairs, Mr. Richard Butera, The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Justice Solomy Bbosa, Justice Geoffrey Kiryabwire, Justice Eldard Mwangusya, Justice Opio Aweri, Justice Faith Mwondha and a one Kakuru, a human rights lawyer.

The Judiciary has been grappling with a low number of officials, leading to a severe case backlog.

Under Supreme Court is Justice Egonda Ntende who is Chief Justice Republic of Seychelles, then Justice Amos Twinomujuni and Justice Stella Arach Amoko.

The judges selected to occupy the High Court include the Deputy DPP, Damalie Nantudde Lwanga, Henrietta Wolayo, Godfrey Namundi, Henry Adonyo, Elizabeth Jane Alividza, Margaret Tibulya, John Eudes Keitirima and David Batema, Alexandra Rugadya Nkonge, Michael Elubu, Dr. Winfred Nabisinde, Eva Luswata Kawuma, Damalie Nantudde Lwanga, Lydia Mugambe, Duncan Gaswaga, Vincent Okwanga, Kaweesa Isabirye and Elizabeth Kibula Kabanda. Most of these selected High Court judges are lawyers.

Meanwhile, the positions of the Chief Justice and Deputy Chief Justice are still vacant since Chief Justice Benjamin Odoki and his deputy are set to retire this year.
