The Swedes’ previous national team postings include DR Congo for whom he was technical director in 2000 and Rwanda , a team he guided to the victory at the 2004 Cecafa Cup while at club level, he has managed Thanda Royal Zulu and Amazulu FC in South Africa.

Palmgrem’s first game in charge is expected to be a friendly against Zambia on May 24 in Windhoek before travelling to Malawi to play a 2014 World Cup Group F qualifier on June 5.

Namibia are currently third in Group F with three points, two less that second placed Kenya and leaders Nigeria after three games played.

This leaves Tom Saintfiet, ex-Italian midfielder Giuseppe Dossena, Serbian Nikola Kavazovic and former Amavubi coach Micho among others in contention for the vacant job.

Assistant coaches Jackson Mayanja, Leo Adraa and goalkeepers’ Coach Fred Kajoba are currently Cranes joint caretaker trainers.
