The top county security personnel held a meeting at the County Commissioner’s office in Bungoma where it was resolved that suspects face the full wrath of the law.

“All people mentioned in the attacks will be summoned for interrogations and those whom the security agents will have substantial ground to prove their indulgence will be taken to court for prosecution irrespective of their status,” said Western P.C James Oserian.

The security meeting also indicated that already a special team of CID officers from Nairobi have been deployed to Bungoma and Busia counties to conduct thorough investigations.

The PC further disclosed that security agents have unanimously agreed to intensify night foot patrols in the entire Western region in a move to apprehend all criminals.

“Now that Bungoma and Busia counties have experienced the attacks, there is a possibility that other counties could also be attacked, we are going to remain vigilant in all the counties to ensure there is total security to the members of the public,” said Oserian.

As a preventive measure the County security committee further resolved to ensure quick responses to insecurity incidents in the entire region upon receiving information from the public.

“You know these criminals because they live amongst yourselves, give the security agents the information and we assure you we are not going to leave any stone unturned, we must get at the bottom of this situation and correct it once and for all,” he assured.

The recent attacks left several people in the border counties nursing injuries and others dead after unknown assailants armed with machete and other crude weapons stormed people’s houses at night and attacked them indiscriminately in both Bungoma and Busia Counties in the Western Region.

People are currently left nursing wounds in various hospitals of Kikwechi, Mukwa and Kibabii villages in Bungoma County.

Another attack in Okobwait village in Busia County also left four people dead and another 30 nursing wounds.
