Nine suspects have been arrested for alleged involvement in the murder of several girls in Nansana Town Council, police have revealed.

In the past few months, about 8 girls have been attacked by unknown assailants while returning home, raped and killed in Nansana, Wakiso district.

Speaking to journalists at the police headquarters on Monday, Police spokesperson Asan Kasingye said through their operations, police apprehended 9 people suspected of partaking in the crimes.

“We have got finger prints and phone print outs to be used to get further evidence about the murders. These will be useful in our investigations,” Kasingye said during the weekly news conference.

“Our intelligence has gathered information that the killers are an organised group who lure the girls with drinks in bars before raping and killing them.”

He said police operations in the area will continue to weed out the wrong elements

The police mouthpiece also revealed that a bodaboda rider had been arrested to help in investigations about a school girl killed in Entebbe.

A 14 year old student at Airforce Secondary School was last week raped and murdered at Abayita Ababiri.

Kasingye said they will interrogate the motorcycle rider connection to the crime.

He also revealed that 98 people were arrested in Kampala for smoking marijuana.
