“This prompted one of the taxi drivers to come to the rescue of a street vendor. The KCCA officials in turn released the street vendor and arrested the taxi driver who was taken to City hall,” added Muyinda.

This forced the taxi drives to close all entrances to Namirembe Taxi Park for about 2 hours demanding for the release of their colleague.

The situation returned to normal after the Old Kampala Police Station Commander ordered his release.

The taxi drivers however warned KCCA officials against mistreating street vendors.
