Alupo said the majority of these cases have always had the involvement of teachers which is unprofessional, shameful and goes against the teachers’ code of conduct.

“These cases have been rampant in private schools, some of which are in partnership with government to implement the USE programme.”

She added that the slight drop in the number of candidates especially for the USE is not surprising but an indication the call made by the Ministry for students to take up technical and vocational courses is being heeded.

The Minister said the selection of candidates is scheduled for February 14 and 15 at Wonder World in Kansanga and Senior Five students are expected to report for studies on March 4, 2013.

She warned schools against wasting time through late start and early closure of the term because it contributes to failure of students to complete the prescribed curriculum before the examinations.
