Kazinda Sent Back To Luzira

Wagutsi refused to grant him bail saying there is no convincing reason to support the appeal because of the conflicting reports and more to that the medical examinations for both the reports were carried out on the same day.

He added that if at all granted bail, Kazinda might violate the conditions given to him.

Kazinda has been remanded to luzira prisons until Febrauary 14 when he will appear before the court again.

He is currently being charged for abuse of office, forgery of Permanent Secretary Pius Bigirimana’s signature, making documents without authority and unlawful possession of government stores.

Jane Francis Abodo the lead prosecutor has informed the court that she will be presenting four more witness before court to testify come February 14.

8:30 AM: Former Principal Accountant in Office of Prime Minister, Godfrey Kazinda’s case is on going at the Anti Corruption Division of High Court before Judge David Wangutsi as he asks for bail on grounds of poor health.

Kazinda is currently being charged for abuse of office, forgery of Permanent Secretary, Pius Bigirimana’s signatures, making documents without authority and unlawful possession of government stores.

Kazinda reportedly caused government a loss of over shs30bn by conniving with officials at Finance Ministry and Bank of Uganda to plunder donor-support funds at OPM.

On February 1, Kazinda was denied bail by Judge Wangutsi and his case adjourned to today, Wednesday.

Despite claiming to be ill, Kazinda was on January 30 confirmed fit for trial by Dr. Fredrick Nelson Nakwagala a senior consultant at Mulago Referral Hospital.


Two officials in OPM, Kenneth Mugumya, the current Principal Accountant and Grace Naluma, the Human Resource Manager, testified against Kazinda.

Naluma said she was not aware of Kazinda’s leave which he claims he had informed her about.
