The 16th edition of the East African Community Jua Kali / Nguvu Kazi Exhibition will take place until December 6, cure 2015 at the Mnazi Mmoja Grounds under the theme, “Buy Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) products, Build East Africa”.
According to the EAC Principal Trade Officer (Internal) Mr. Nduati Wa Karanja, the theme portrays the role MSEs are expected to play in the growth and development of the region’s economies.
Mr. Karanja disclosed that so far 1,000 artisans had registered and confirmed their participation. Kenya has so far registered 250 participants, Burundi, 50; Rwanda, 100; and, Tanzania, 520.
In order to support promotion of the Jua Kali / Nguvu Kazi sector of the regional economy, the EAC Secretariat in collaboration with the Partner States and Confederation of Informal Sector Organization East Africa (CISO-EA) has organized the annual exhibitions since 1999.
The exhibitions have proved to be strategic avenues for promoting the sector’s products, transfer of technologies, and promotion of the regional integration process.
The annual event offers an opportunity for local entrepreneurs to learn and share experiences with their counterparts from across the region.
Over the years, the East African Jua Kali/Nguvu Kazi Exhibition has served new market frontiers for artisans’ products, bridged the technological gaps between Artisans’ and as an avenue of integrating the artisans’ in the region.
