Reports coming from neighboring Kenya indicate that at least 2 people have been confirmed dead in the attack by unknown gunmen at Garissa University campus.
Local and international media report bodies of the university guards were found lying at the University gate.
About ten men this morning attacked the university and opened fire while several students were attending morning prayers.
The Kenyan Defense forces and Police have taken over the campus located about 367 kilometers from the capital Nairobi and gunshots are still audible around the area.
Somalia based Islamist terror group Alshabaab is highly believed to be behind the attack.
About 30 people have been taken to hospital with serious gunshot injuries according to local Red Cross workers there.
Earlier there were reports of a hostage situation but it remains unclear how many students are still held in there.
