FUFA recently accused SuperSport of “killing” Ugandan football by sponsoring Uganda Super League (USL) instead of FUFA Super League (FSL).

SuperSport has vowed not to inject a single coin into the FUFA Super League (FSL) which was recently put in place by the federation as a rival against Uganda Super League

This did only create two antagonistic national leagues but also sparked acrimony in the Uganda football fraternity.

A frustrated Mbale delegate Zubair Galiwango recently rushed to Nakawa High Court, seeking among other things a declaratory order that the FUFA Super League Board headed by Hajji Abbass Kawaase was running its activities illegally.

However, Court later dismissed the case as “invalid.”

Nevertheless, SuperSport has given FUFA a notice of withdrawal of two weeks. Uganda Breweries Ltd is also withdrawing support to the soccer leagues.

If SuperSport withdraws, Clubs will lose a staggering Shs5bn and Ugandans will miss the live television coverage of local soccer matches.
