He further accused Janet of “eating” the taxpayers’ money pretending to be developing Karamoja.
Mafabi vowed to continue “fighting Janet” until her downfall in what he termed as a “relentless campaign against corruption.”
His statements come on the heels of media reports that millions of shillings from the Office of the Prime Minister were misused on consecutive trips to Israel by Janet, allegations she has vehemently denied.

Janet says in 2010, she was invited to Israel to make an on-the-spot observation of the methods they have used over the years to access water in that very dry part of the world, so that they could benefit from their experience in the struggle to change the face of Karamoja.
“I was not able to honor the invitation for a long time, but in September 2010, I took advantage of the one time I was accompanying H.E the President to the United Nations General Assembly meeting to travel from Entebbe via Tel Aviv, Israel and then joined the President in London for onward travel to the New York meeting,” says Janet.

“Therefore, the cost of the greater part of that journey was not paid for by OPM. Perhaps, I should add here for everybody’s information that the information I now have is that the money that paid for this trip was not from PRDP funds.”
OPM officials claim to have put in place irrigation and farming projects coupled with the best road infrastructure in the region to spur development in Karamoja.
Meanwhile, Mafabi did not spare his rival Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu in his speech, accusing him of “failing the party in erecting and strengthening party structures.”

“This is what I intend to do for FDC. I will not only fight corruption but also build strong and lasting structures for our party – an area where Gen Muntu has flatly failed,” charged Muntu.
It was also at this juncture that Mafabi introduced his wife, Flora Nandala, to his supporters.
While latest poll ratings indicated that Mafabi was struggling in a race where he faces Muntu and MP Geoffrey Ekanya, the huge turn up of his supporters in Mbale is evidence that he is making giant strides in a bid to capture the FDC presidency.
