Police Bust International Car Robbers’ Racket

They suspects were on September 27 nabbed in Muyenga, a Kampala suburb, in a stolen Nadia car registration number UAR 729S.

This was after staging a road block to steal a Range Rover brand car.

“These thugs stole a Range Rover on gunpoint from a business lady, Asha Mirembe, as she drove to her residence after a trip to Kigali,” says Kasingye.

However, the robbers were trailed and intercepted before fleeing Kampala.

Kasingye says the suspects have confessed to owning a car garage in Zanzibar where robbed vehicles’ features are altered to evade detection before being shipped to the Middle East.

“We have also recovered illegal guns from the suspects. They will soon be arraigned in court for prosecution,” adds Kasingye.

Cases of car robberies have been on the rise especially in Kampala, compelling Police to form an intelligence unit to crackdown on the perpetrators.
