The President was meeting a delegation from the SBI International Holdings Company who called on him on Tuesday at State House, Entebbe.

He commended his guests who were led by the Company Managing Director, Mr Cameo Shay, for their commendable job of road construction in Uganda.

SBI International Holdings AG Company that was founded in 1958 in Switzerland was incorporated in Uganda in 2000. The Company is currently building Kampala – Masaka, Kabale – Kisoro – Bunagamn/Kyanika and Masaka – Mbarara roads. It is also involved in the designing and building of the Malaba – Busia/Bugiri road, the reconstruction of the Mbarara – Katuna road (Lots 2 and 3). The Company operates in a number of countries in Europe, Africa and the Americas in such core areas like public works, roads, highways and bridges, building and construction, water works and sewage and real estate development, among others.

The SBI International Managing Director, Mr. Shay informed the President that their Company has been in road construction work for close to 50 years. He added that the Company’s works has so far seen completion of 600 kms of road building in Uganda including the Northern corridor.

Mr Shay assured the President that the Kampala – Masaka highway construction would be completed by 2014.

The Minister of Transport and Works, Engineer Abraham James Byandaala, attended the meeting.
