All this money was lost in several car and other business deals with Desh – who is also wanted by Police for reportedly murdering his barman, Badru Kateregga at Panamera Bar and Restaurant last month.
“Desh will explain why he never delivered cars to his clients despite receiving large sums of money from him,” a detective told Chimpreports on condition of anonymity as she was not authorized to speak to press.
Desh is suspected to be hiding in a foreign country.
Police on Monday said they had forwarded Desh’s file to the Director of Public Prosecution, Richard Butera, to sanction charges of murder against him.
Kampala Metropolitan Police publicist Ibin Ssenkumbi said all the “necessary investigations into the matter are complete.”
“We have sent the files attached to this case to the DPP for review and to give us advice because our investigators have finalized their work,” said Ssenkumbi.
Ssenkumbi expressed confidence that they had gathered enough evidence from the bar, including testimonies of employees to pin Desh.
“So we are calling on the general public to notify us in case they know where Kananura is hiding,” Ssenkumbi urged the nation.
“We are still looking for Desh and whoever has information about his whereabouts, he can pass that information in confidence on toll free lines: 0800199399, 0800199699, or 0714667787.”
Ssenkumbi’s statement restored public confidence in Police which many thought had feared to arrest the businessman and ensure the relatives and friends of Kateregga get justice.
