Investor To Construct Over a Sewer Line In Jinja

rx geneva;”>symptoms sans-serif; color: #222222;”>Our source said that a small piece of land at the end of Faraday road in Ambercourt Jinja has been parceled out and sold off to an investor yet it has a sewer line passing through it. And the lower part has a trench constructed to lead water away from the canal to avoid soil erosion.

That this investor came and graded the lower part of Faraday road and dumped murram soil with intentions of shifting the road and carving the existing part of the road into his plot.

However on September 26, residents protested and brought the Mayor Hajji Muhammed Baswale Kesaala and the town engineer to this site. They agreed that it was wrong for the land board to sell off that green area. They promised to stop it but nothing was done.

That night, the contractor brought people to fence it off. The Giso, Moses worked hard with Geoffrey Jokwong, LC 1 Chairman and the DPC of Jinja to chase them away people and even threatened to arrest them.

Now that the rains have come, the drainage has been blocked as a result of this dubious work and the road is getting washed away.

Our source said that the residents are urging the government to intervene and stop this daylight thieves and restore their drainage because it will spoil the road, of which it will cost the tax payers money to repair if at all its repaired.

Judge Mngqibisa-Thusi was supposed to decide the investors verdict on Tuesday, but has moved it to a later date as she reviews the evidence before the court.
