The baby was thrown in a pit that was about 20 feet deep by her mother, a one Nagudi Fatuma,18 years, a resident of Kasokoso village Kiira Town Council in Wakiso.
Police said in a statement on Saturday that they rescued the kid alive.

The driver of the trailer and the conductor of the taxi sustained serious injuries and were all rushed to Mubende main hospital in critical condition.
It’s alleged that the taxi driver was trying to avoid knocking an unidentified boda-boda rider who was in the wrong lane of the opposite direction.
Police say the cause of the accident was reckless driving by the taxi driver.
Bodies have been taken to Mubende hospital for postmortem.
This is the latest in a spate of fatal accidents that have cost over 50 precious lives in a period of two months in the country.
Twenty people were early this month injured when a bus belonging to Kalita Bus Company swerved off the road and side turned at Luwumba in Mubende district.
This happened days after a Horizon bus lost control, overturned several times and caught fire in Lwengo, claiming 14 lives and leaving many injured.
