Below is the full statement.

Uganda Police Force would like to clarify on the information in the social media that Desh Kananura forcefully opened his bar and Restaurant in Naguru that was closed by us to allow smooth investigations into the murder of barman Badru Kateregga.

The true picture is that Police had closed the bar to carry out thorough search and investigations, which included re-constructing the murder scene.

The place was closed to get any possible exhibits. Police has done its work and got all the necessary evidence from the place to pin Kananura for the murder.

We have done our work and we had to reopen the bar but Kananura did not forcefully open it.

The public should also know that the bar had several people holding shares there and not only Desh.

The shareholders were not part of the murder and therefore their rights had to be honoured.

We are still looking for Desh and whoever has information about his where about, he can pass that information in confidence on toll free lines:0800199399,0800199699, or 0714667787.

However, in order to monitor security around there, we have decided to open up a Police post in that area.
