Security is being tightened in Mbarara.

Drama started unfolding at 11:30am when FDC supporters, waving black flags, a symbol of political mourning, attempted to march through Mbarara town.

The youth claimed there was nothing tangible they have benefited from government, despite the country being independent from colonialists.

They further called upon police to let Col Besigye and Lukwago move freely from their homes where they are under preventive arrest.

Police swung into action thus blocking the protesters who have exhibited determination to hold a rally at Mbarara Independence Park at 2pm.

Anti-riot police have been deployed at the venue of the planned gathering.

Police last week warned no political activities would be allowed until after the 50th Independence Anniversary celebrations.
