Some of the Heads of State who have already jetted in for the function include Rwanda’s Paul Kagame, Kenyan leader Mwai Kibaki and DRC President Joseph Kabange.

Others are Salva Kiir (South Sudan), Jakaya Kikwete (Tanzania), Pierre Nkurunziza and Hassan Sheikh Mohamud (Somalia).

Owing to the arrangement for the national celebrations, Government said districts will not celebrate the Golden Jubilee on 9th October as has always been the tradition.

“The Government has invited RDC, District Chairperson and all members of Parliament to the national celebrations at Kololo. It is mandatory that all local Governments attend,” said Information Minister Mary Karooro Okurut.
