“Alex was extremely handsome and jolly. He is all I had. His life brought warmth, love and satisfaction to my heart. I am really devastated and lonely without Alex,” Shiba Kankunda broke down in tears.


“My heart was ripped apart when I got a telephone call that Alex had died. It was the most heartbreaking call I have ever received in my entire life. I could not believe that his life could be cut short in such a very short time,” Kankunda added, as tears rolled down her cheeks uncontrollably.


Nuwagaba’s life was tragically cut short in a motor accident on Kisoro road on Saturday as he led an advance team of Gen Kale Kayihura’s guards ahead of a function meant to commemorate the life of the police boss’ father, Kale.

“I appreciate the hundreds, perhaps thousands of prayers from all of you. I’m so grateful to you guys for choosing to give my husband such a befitting sendoff,” wept Kankunda.

As the audience sobbed, Nuwagaba’s little, but handsome son, was moving around the church. He played around the casket, smiling. This left many in tears. Little did the boy know that this was the last time he was seeing his precious dad’s body on earth.

Nuwagaba’s coffin was mounted with flowers and after the function; the pallbearer carried the casket out of the Church ahead of the burial due Wednesday at the deceased’s ancestral home in Isingiro district.

Kampala Police boss pledged to take on the responsibility of educating Nuwagaba’s son Alex until he finishes his education.

“I will take care of his son from now till he graduates,” said AIGP Kaweesi.

Nuwagaba was described by many as a dedicated and disciplined officer who had passion for his work.

Others said that Nuwagaba was a loyal officer who cloud not rest until he has accomplished a task assigned to him.

The Uganda Police Force said they lost an irreplaceable officer.

Counter Terrorism boss, John Ndugutse, attended the function.
