rx geneva;”>Sources in police said the men; also employees of the bloodstained Panamera Bar and Restaurant in Naguru, Kampala, were in hiding since the murder that shocked the nation.

The suspects, whom police preferred to shelve their identities, were picked from their hideout in Nakawa, Kampala, on Saturday.

“They are jailed at Kiira Road Police station to help us in investigations. They have recorded statements and could face charges of murder,” said a source.

Chimpreports last week reported that the International Police, Interpol, had started the hunt for Kananura over the gruesome incident.

The source said some of the statements recorded by the arrested suspects are likely to pin the tycoon in the killing of Kateregga.

Detectives say Kananura has been telephoning his closet friends in Uganda from Dubai where he is hiding.

The businessman fled the country through Uganda border town of Malaba before boarding a Dubai-bound plane in Nairobi, Kenya’s capital.

Sources said if Kananura continues exhibiting determination to escape the long arm of the law and fall short of handing himself to the authorities, he could face murder charges.

“We are hoping that Kananura will produce himself to Police because he has a family and all his businesses, are located in Kampala. We live in a very small world. This situation (hiding from authorities) is not sustainable,” the source, who has been briefed on the progress of the investigations, told us.

Police case files registration numbers CR 2830/2012 and SD28/30/9, 2012 of manslaughter and assault, respectively, have been opened up at Kiira Road Police Station to enable investigations as police wait for Kananura’s arrest and prosecution.

Kananura is also a brother to Makerere University Chancellor Prof Mondo Kagonyera.

The flamboyant tycoon is well known for living a lavish life, splashing money in exclusive nightspots and cruising state-of-the-art rides.

Kampala Metropolitan Police publicist Ibin Ssenkumbi last week urged the public to provide any information that could lead to Kananura’s arrest.
