Rwanda and Gabon have had a framework of bilateral cooperation which was signed in 1976.

The cooperation agreement was renewed in 2010 when the Rwanda Minister of Foreign Affairs led a delegation to Gabon, after President Ali Bongo visited Rwanda in September 2010, to attend both the MDGs consultative meeting and the inauguration ceremony of President Kagame.

Bongo later held bilateral talks with Kagame.

At the diplomatic level, Rwanda is represented to Gabon by the Ambassador of Rwanda to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
