MP Tinkasiimire Arson Saga: Gen Kayihura Promises “Wide Investigation”

He expressed his sympathies with the troubled family, saying he would “give his all” to ensure the perpetrators of such acts are brought to book.

In a related development, Internal Affairs Minister Hon. Hillary Onek described as “unlawful, savage and criminal,” an attack on Tinkasiimire’s family.

The Minister also reported that his some “wrong elements” have been threatening his security.

“I have in the past been followed by two cars as Parliament handled matters of the energy ministry,” said Onek.

He noted there were some clues available on the arson saga.

He reported that government was saddened by the reported criminal activities in different parts of the country.

During the Parliamentary session, lawmakers expressed concern over their security.

His wife and a relative were badly injured.

Legislators have accused the Police of ineffectiveness even after criminal threats are reported to the law enforcement arm of government.

PAC Chairman MP Kassiano Wadri said the safety of members of accountability committees is compromised because of the nature of their work as they follow up cases of corruption and abuse of office.
