Police Commandos Raid Suspected FDC Rebel’s Residence In Kawempe


visit this geneva;”>Police further arrested a one Moses Kamuswaga Matovu, 25, a resident of Maganjo, after he was found in possession of illegal fire arms.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Ibin Ssenkumbi, Matovu tried to detonate a teargas canister which made noise and alerted the neighbors who subsequently informed the police.

He reportedly sustained injuries on his hand from the blast.

Upon receipt of the information, police swung into action and carried out a search and managed to recover three bullets, six tear gas canisters, firearms, FDC posters and an FDC membership card.

Police also says that he was trying to run to Mityana to escape the long arm of the law.

Recently, Kampala Police commandant, AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi said that there is a section of the public who have acquired arms illegally and are planning to use them to overthrow the government.

He said that the group want to take advantage of the opposition politicians planned Walk To Freedom demonstrations in the city to tarnish the image of Police by either shooting at the crowd or throwing tear gas canisters to the public so that the police is blamed for their action.

Police investigations are under way to establish the source of these weapons.
