Elias Lukwago and MP Mathias Mpuuga were earlier arrested by the police as they tried to mobilize people to go tour the new taxi park but were later released after being cautioned.
Police says after accepting their mistake that what they were doing is illegal and would not do it again, Mpuuga honored his words and went back home.
However, Lukwago defied his own promise and went to Namayuba Taxi Park and started addressing a rally where he was re-arrested and is currently detained at Kiira Road Police station.
The FDC Leader was also arrested at Kisekka market after defying Police orders issued by the Inspector General of Police Lt Gen Kale Kayihura and taken back to Kasangati Police Station.
“Besigye moved all the way from Kasangati to Kampala city in defiant of the orders where he attracted a crowd composed of hooligans which caused a disruption of business in the city,” say police.
He was, however, counseled by the Commander of Kampala Metropolitan Police, AIGP Andrew Kaweesi and put under preventive arrest in Kasangati Police Station.
Police say Besigye will be released at an “appropriate time.”
