“MP’s Sister Threatened To Kill Me”

“My life is in danger if she is released because she told me that she will kill me like my sister who was eliminated as she tried to demand our Shs60m from her,” Nasur informed the Law Development Center (LDC) court during the trial.

Aza committed reportedly threatened to kill Nasur on September 19, 2012.

It all started with Aza selling her plot of land at Anyafio Cell in Arua Municipality to Nasur at Shs120m. Nasur made part payment of Shs60m, but when she later telephoned Aza to organize a meeting so as to clear the balance, the legislator’s sister said she had changed her mind.

Since then, court was told, efforts to get a refund of their advance payment have so far cost Nasur’s sister her life.

Aza’s lawyer Ronald Munyabi told court that the complainant’s fears are unfounded and applied for bail on grounds that Aza has a fixed place of aboard at Kigowa Kiwatule –Wakiso district.

He presented two sureties; George Aswa a nephew and Danis Ahimbisibwe a film producer and Aza’s business partner. The prosecution however maintained its objection to bail basing on the complainant’s fears.

“Though bail is a constitutional right, it is discretionary to court. It is hereby denied and the accused will be remanded to Luzira prison until the case is heard and completed or until such a time when the prosecution shall deem it fit to release her,” LDC Grade I Magistrate Esther Nansambu ruled.
