Speaking on Monday while addressing by-election rallies for Usuk MP held at the Usuk Sub-County and at Katakwi High School in Katakwi District, the President warned that it is dangerous to discriminate against the young people. The election is slated for Wednesday.

Museveni said that Kiiza Besigye and Alice Alaso both of the opposition FDC Party were recently in the area to ask for votes after the NRM had ushered in the dividend of security in Katakwi district following the Movement’s initiative that successfully led to the disarming of the Karimojong cattle rustlers.

He, therefore, urged the people of Usuk constituency to vote for the NRM flag bearer, Proscovia Alengot, who has the capacity to deliver the services being provided by the NRM.

Giving himself as an example, he said he started the National Resistance Movement revolution in 1965 when he was young.

He noted that the party of young people that started in the 1960s eventually saved Uganda. He said that what matters is the issue of having a vision adding that Alengot will be able to effectively deliver because she will join other leaders in bringing development to the area.

Museveni assured the people of the area that the NRM government will create new Sub-Counties to ensure effective Government in Katakwi.

He also noted that the Government will soon embark on the commissioning of new electricity dams.

He was happy to note that the construction of the Soroti – Katakwi – Moroto power line is in progress, adding that the Soroti – Katakwi – Moroto road would be constructed.

He pledged donation of 2 buses to Katakwi High School and Usuk Secondary School.

He also said that Government would provide tractors to the youth to enhance agro-production.

He told the people of the area that the Katakwi – Napak common boundary dispute would be solved by the surveys department.
