The President was yesterday speaking during a joint meeting of members of the Uganda Manufactures’ Association (UMA), Uganda Chamber of Commerce, Kampala City Traders’ Association (KACITA) along with Bank of Uganda and other Government Ministries officials at State House, Entebbe. The deliberations of the meeting focused mainly on ways and means geared towards giving an impetus to efforts involving the enhancement of the agro-processing sector in the country.
The President emphasized the issue of unnecessary encumbrances that bureaucrats offload on wananchi whom they should assist to access low interest financial lending rates on the funds they want to get.
Museveni told the meeting of the high milk production in the country especially in the Ankole Sub-Region and said the increased milk output was as a result of a deliberate move that he took to boost the dairy farmers by encouraging them to embrace modern practices of commercial farming in order to diversify their capacity in boosting household income earning.
He, therefore, called on the relevant Government Ministries to come up with deliberate efforts towards ensuring that agricultural crops that were not doing so well are tackled basing on expert advice so that farmers are enabled to derive more financial gains from their undertakings.
